The highlight at this monographic sale dedicated to Fantoni, a leading mid 20thcentury Italian ceramicist, was a pair of lamps from 1960 that sold for €13,572 ($14,400) (est. €2,500–3,500; $2,700– 3,700). Close behind was a lamp from the same year that soared past its €3,000 ($3,200) high estimate to land at €12,760 ($13,500). Collectors were also interested in sculpture, evident by a modern piece from 1970 that achieved €12,122 ($12,850) (est.©€6,000–9,000; $6,400– 9,500). Overall, 60 of the 72 lots on offer found takers, resulting in a sales total that solidly surpassed the house’s €170,000 ($180,000) presale estimate. It was a rare opportunity to buy Fantoni’s work at auction, and the majority of pieces that sold exceeded expectations.
