UK-based auction house Dreweatts & Bloomsbury will auction rare outtakes and the final cover shot for the Beatles’ “Abbey Road” album during its November 21 Photographs & Photobooks sale in London’s Mayfair. The suite of signed and numbered photographs, which is believed to be the first complete suite to be offered at public auction, is expected to fetch £50,000 - 70,000.Scottish photographer Iain Macmillan, a close friend of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, was invited by Lennon to shoot the six photographs as possible designs for the front cover of the album. Paul McCartney chose the fifth shot of the Fab Four walking across a zebra crossing as the cover for “Abbey Road,” which was the last album recorded by the Beatles.Sarah Wheeler, Head of Photography at Bloomsbury Auctions said, “To see the full collection of photographs together is a rare and fascinating opportunity for fans of the Beatles, Music and Photography.
