Bonhams will offer a collection of 30 Banksy prints from the collection of the legendary graffiti artist’s former agent, renowned urban art dealer and gallerist Steve Lazarides, in its Founded 1793 sale of contemporary art at Bonhams New Bond Street on January 28, 2015.Highlights from the collection include iconic prints such as “Flower Thrower” (2003), “Rude Copper” (2002), and “Christ With Shopping Bags” (2004), each estimated at £8,000-12,000.Two of Banksy’s Watchtower sculptures, one of which is a collaboration with Kelsey Brookes, will also be offered, each with an estimate of £12,000-18,000.When he first began selling Banksy’s work, Larazides recalls driving his clapped-out old Escort MK 2 delivering the little Banksy books to shops all over London, and stuffing handfuls of stickers into print tubes. “Those early days were chaotic and fearless,” he saidCommenting on the sale, Lazarides said: “I have decided to open up my personal vault and let go some of my collection, and I hope whoever lands up with them derives as much enjoyment from them as I have had.”“I still believe in the power of the print medium and love the way it serves as a gateway for many people to access the world of art collecting.
