OVERVIEWThe Sotheby’s Hong Kong “Modern Art Evening Sale” is scheduled for September 30, 2018. The auction features a selection of works from the East and West. Highlights include Sanyu’s “Pot de pivoines” and Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita’s “Printemps,” followed by “15.12.60,” a fine piece from the Hurricane period by Zao Wou-Ki, as well as “Sunshine after Snow in the Mountain Village I,” a rare 1960s work by Wu Guanzhong. The sale will feature major and important works by the likes of Chu Teh-Chun, Pablo Picasso, Wifredo Lam, Wu Dayu and Richard Lin.The total sale realized from the Modern and Contemporary Art Evening Sale at Sotheby’s Hong Kong last year was 710 million Hong Kong dollars (including buyer’s premium) with 74 lots. This year, the auction is expected to realize sales over 415 million Hong Kong dollars, and there are 50 works of 29 artists on offer.
