The 78 lots that will feature in the upcoming "Boundless: Contemporary Art" sale, which will take place June 23 at Sotheby’s Hong Kong Gallery, have been announced.Included in the sale are art, photography, and design works by some of the most famous international artists from the last century, including Yves Klein, Nam June Paik, and Edward Weston. As previously reported by ARTINFO, a complete set of Picasso’s silver plates will be leading this sale, and have been given a record estimate of $1.5 million - $2.3 million. Designed by Picasso and silversmith François Hugo, this is the first time a full set of the plates, which includes all 24 designs Picasso did on silver plates, including signature Picasso subjects and a number of works heavily inspired by Matisse, have been auctioned.Continuing the theme of artists working in unfamiliar mediums, another highlight is a table designed by Yves Klein. For his rare foray into furniture design, the artist added legs to plexiglass boxes filled with either pigment of pink, International Klein Blue, or 3000 sheets of gold leaf.“Boundless” will feature an example of the latter, the “Table d’Or.” Although these tables are still in production and can be bought for around $28,000, Sotheby’s has a historic example made the year after the artist’s death that comes with an estimate of $19,000 - $32,000.In contrast, the photography at “Boundless” features mostly signature works by artists. A nude piece by Edward Weston (estimate $9,000 - $12,000) and Bill Brandt ($9,000 - $12,000) are to appear, as are works by André Kertesz and Brassai. The sale is completed by an extensive selection of paintings, including works by Lee Ufan, Keith Haring, and Pierre Soulages, as well as one of Nam June Paik’s distinctive whimsical robot sculptures, valued at $64,000 - $90,000.Boundless: Contemporary Art runs June 23 at Sotheby’s Hong Kong Gallery following a preview June 17-23.
