ABOUT: Cases of some of the finest and rarest wines go on the block next week at Christie’s and Sotheby’s from London to Hong Kong.
Christie’s spring auction of rare and fine wines offers 593 lots including a collection of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti 1983 in methuselah expected to go for over $117,000, a six-bottle lot of 1999 vintage Romanée-Conti Grand Cru with a low estimate of over $58,000. 12 bottles of Petrus 1982 are expected to bring in over $52,000. 12 bottles of Château Mouton Rothschild 1961, in their original wooden cases and which were formerly in the cellar of a “senior member of the UK wine trade," are also on offer as are many other wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Champagne among other renowned regions of the world.
At Sotheby’s London, its finest and rarest wine sale offers 491 lots expected to bring in over $990,000. 12-bottle parcels of Chateau Latour 1982, with their “immensely spicy, aromatic bouquet” and “thick, enveloping, total succulence,” lead the sale, the top lots having low estimates upwards of of $15,000. Parcels of Cheval Blanc 1982 are leading contenders expected to bring in upwards of $6000 per lot. The sale of bottles of Chateau Petrus 1982 and Romanee Conti 2009 also highly anticipated at this sale.
