HONG KONG — Poly Auction’s two-day series of spring sales in Hong Kong, held from April 6-7, 2015, achieved a grand total of HK$1.1 billion (US$140 million).Headlining this series of sales was Cui Ruizhuo’s “The Grand Snowing Mountainous Jiangnan Landscape,” which sold for HK$236 million (US$30.45 million).Three sections organized by the Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art department achieved total sales of HK$123.9 million. Top lots from these sections included the Imperial Reticulated Celadon-ground Yangcai with Blue-and-White Core Elephant-handled Vase with a six-character seal from the Qianlong period (1736-1795), which fetched HK$14 million. Also performing well was an Important Bronze Ritual Vessel with Inscriptions, Zun from the Early Western Zhou period, which sold for HK$12,390,000.Meanwhile, the Chinese and Asian Modern & Contemporary Art department fetched a total of HK$259 million with a sell-through rate of 80.5%, led by works by modern Chinese masters including Wu Guanzhong, Zao Wou-ki, Chu Teh-chun, and Lin Fengmian, as well as Japanese artists Kazuo Shiraga and Yayoi Kusama.
